Karl Purcell

Attorney & Founder, KMP Law Group
Licensed in New York & California

Karl Purcell is the founder of KMP Law Group, where he advises individuals, families, and creatives on protecting what they’ve built—and what matters most.

His work spans entertainment law and estate planning, grounded in a single philosophy: thoughtful planning should reduce uncertainty, not create it. Whether advising creatives on protecting their work or guiding families through long-term legacy decisions, Karl focuses on clarity, structure, and legal strategies designed to hold up as life and careers evolve.

Karl earned his undergraduate degree from Morehouse College and his Juris Doctor from Touro University Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center. His background also includes hands-on experience within the music industry, including work with Island Def Jam Records and Disturbing Tha Peace Records, giving him a practical, insider perspective on the creative and business realities his entertainment clients face.

Karl founded KMP Law Group to offer a more intentional approach to legal planning—one centered on listening first, understanding context, and designing solutions that work beyond the moment they are created.

He believes legal planning should feel clear and grounded, not rushed or transactional. Clients are guided through decisions with care and transparency, so they understand not only what they are doing, but why it matters.

Karl advises creatives and professionals in the entertainment industry on matters at the intersection of creativity and business. Drawing on both legal training and industry experience, he helps clients navigate contracts, intellectual property, and long-term career considerations with an eye toward sustainability and protection.

Across his entertainment work, the goal remains consistent: to help clients make informed decisions early, reduce avoidable risk, and maintain control over their work and opportunities.

In his estate planning practice, Karl works with individuals and families who want more than documents alone. He helps clients think through real-world dynamics—family relationships, long-term responsibilities, incapacity, and change—so plans function when they are actually needed.

His approach emphasizes clarity, continuity, and communication, helping clients create plans that protect loved ones, preserve intentions, and adapt as life evolves.

Across both practices, Karl is known for a steady, relationship-driven approach. He prioritizes understanding his clients’ goals and concerns, translating complex legal issues into clear, actionable guidance, and building planning relationships designed for the long term.

Clients value his calm, thoughtful style and his belief that good legal planning should bring confidence—not confusion.
